For Pleats Sake!

Pleats have been a common texture for years in dress. I have also found that the pleated texture is quite common for many objects unrelated to fashion. In this instance we can see a pleated pattern from the middle of cardboard.

Faux Fur Feels Furrrrrrrfect

Faux Fur has transitioned from novelty use into a fashion fad. As seen in the picture to the right- this fur hood is becoming all the rage in Hollywood this season.

The Pouf

This texture is most popular in the bath but it's duplicated in many forms of fashion. For example, in the right picture you can see a very similar construction and texture at the bottom of the dress to the bath pouf. This texture not only adds a fun and flirty texture- it adds volume to the garment.

The Basket Weave

The texture of a woven basket can be seen in apparel as well. For example- many hats are woven from similar materials. They are all the rage for the warmer seasons.

Sporty Texture

Texture can also be found in sports. Take for example the texture of a basketball. This braille-like texture is now being used for sneakers.

Cross Hatching

     The cross hatched texture can be found in art, architecture and fashion alike. Here we see it utilized in a man hole cover and a pair of cuff-links.

Honeycomb- It's the Bee's Knees!

The texture of honeycomb isn't for the bees anymore- it's taking the fashion world by storm. This texture has been utilized in this chic sun dress. What a great combination!

Texture is Tipping the Scales with Fish Scales!

     Fish scales are anything but slimey when used in fashion. This gown worn by Miley Cyrus was directly inspired by the fun and flirty fish scale texture.

Nautical Texture: Fishnets

     Fishnet stockings are very mainstream in today's fashion. As a result it is sometimes difficult to recall that they were inspired by their nautical counterpart- the fish net. This nautically inspired texture has become a lasting and important addition to the fashion industry.

Brain Coral

Brain coral is a very interesting texture to work with. It's random curved ridges and fluffy texture give the eye plenty to stay interested in. Clockwise we see a bag inspired by this texture, a close up of brain coral and a pair of pants inspired by the brain.
